Kasie and Rachel were destined to be friends, even though they only met a decade ago. Love of all things theater, books and adventures have made them the friends they were always meant to be.

The universe brought these two teachers together when Rachel’s daughter enrolled in Kasie’s children’s theater and the two never looked back. Like the podcast, Kasie was the creative driving force behind all things at the theater, running lights, sound and child wrangling. Rachel loved volunteering with costumes, wigs and even making popcorn at the concession stand.

Once Rachel’s daughter moved on to high school, Kasie and Rachel’s friendship grew to walks on the causeway, where they talked about everything from life, work, health, theater, and, of course, books. But like all good friends, the need for caffeine soon became too great and they moved to meeting a coffee shop.

As fate would have it, Rachel had to have a show and tell moment. An avid paper crafter, Rachel had recently fallen into the world of book journaling. All it took was one look from Kasie, and the journaling craze began. It grew and evolved into trading and sharing journals and talking about what they read, until one day Kasie looked at Rachel and said, “We’re starting a podcast!”

As is true to their personalities, Rachel just laughed and forgot about it. That is, until the next week when Kasie showed up for coffee with starter microphones, opened her journal, and said, “Welcome to podcasting!”

And they have never looked back.

As they turn the page on the second year of the podcast, Kasie and Rachel are happily growing slowly but growing together, and they love sharing this with the world. Rachel is the yin to Kasie’s yang. While Rachel speaks in cursive (she was an English major…she cannot help it), Kasie makes up her own vocabulary, but they are both better for it.

These two are so much more than book besties. They are friends, chosen sisters, and real family…who happen to love books and coffee and much as they love each other.
